Pumpkin Spice Sachets
Description: Create fragrant and charming pumpkin spice scented sachets that will infuse your space with the cozy aroma of fall. These sachets are perfect for placing in drawers, closets, or any area where you want to enjoy the delightful scent of pumpkin spice.
Materials:
- Fabric (cotton or muslin)
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
- Scissors
- Pumpkin spice potpourri or a combination of dried spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger)
- Essential oil (optional)
- Ribbon or twine
Instructions:
Cutting the Fabric: Begin by cutting two squares or rectangles of fabric, each measuring approximately 4-5 inches in size. You can adjust the dimensions based on your preference for the size of the sachets.
Sewing the Sachet: Place the two fabric pieces together, with the patterned or colorful sides facing inward. Sew along three sides, leaving one side open for filling. If using a sewing machine, use a straight stitch with a small seam allowance. If sewing by hand, use a running stitch.
Turning the Sachet Inside Out: Carefully turn the fabric inside out through the open side, so that the patterned or colorful side is now facing outward. Use a pencil or your fingers to gently push out the corners for a neat finish.
Filling the Sachet: Fill the sachet with pumpkin spice potpourri or a combination of dried spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. You can also add a few drops of pumpkin spice-scented essential oil for an extra burst of fragrance. Adjust the amount of filling to achieve your desired level of scent.
Closing the Sachet: Fold the open edges of the fabric inward and sew them together using a whip stitch or a ladder stitch. Ensure that the stitches are small and close together to prevent the filling from spilling out.
Adding a Decorative Touch: Tie a ribbon or twine around the closed end of the sachet to add a decorative touch and create a way to hang or secure the sachet if desired.
Letting the Scent Develop: Allow the sachets to sit for a few days in a dry and well-ventilated area to let the scent fully develop and infuse into the fabric.
Placing and Enjoying: Place your pumpkin spice scented sachets in drawers, closets, or any area where you want to enjoy the delightful aroma of fall. You can also use them as decorative accents by hanging them on hooks or doorknobs.
Refreshing the Scent: Over time, the scent may fade. To refresh the sachets, simply give them a gentle squeeze or add a few drops of pumpkin spice-scented essential oil.
These pumpkin spice scented sachets will fill your space with the comforting scent of fall, adding a touch of seasonal charm to your home. Enjoy the cozy aroma and the warm ambiance they create during the autumn season.
Pressed Leaf Coasters
Materials:
- Assorted autumn leaves (real or artificial)
- Ceramic tiles (4x4 inches or your preferred size)
- Mod Podge or clear-drying craft glue
- Paintbrush
- Clear acrylic sealer spray
- Felt or cork sheets
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun (or strong adhesive)
Instructions:
Start by collecting a variety of colorful autumn leaves. Ensure they are dry and flat for easier pressing.
Take a ceramic tile and apply a thin, even layer of Mod Podge or clear-drying craft glue to the surface using a paintbrush.
Carefully place a leaf or a combination of leaves onto the glue, pressing them gently to adhere. Arrange them in a pleasing pattern or let your creativity guide you.
Apply another layer of Mod Podge or glue over the top of the leaves, ensuring they are completely covered. This will help seal and preserve the leaves. Allow it to dry completely.
Once the Mod Podge or glue is dry, apply a few coats of clear acrylic sealer spray to the surface of the tile. This will provide additional protection and a glossy finish. Allow it to dry completely between coats.
Cut out squares or circles from felt or cork sheets slightly smaller than the size of the tiles. These will serve as backing for the coasters to prevent them from scratching surfaces.
Using a hot glue gun or strong adhesive, attach the felt or cork backing to the bottom of each tile. Ensure it's centered and securely attached.
Repeat the process for additional tiles, creating a set of leaf pressed coasters.
Now you have a unique set of leaf pressed coasters that showcase the beauty of autumn leaves. Enjoy using them while sipping your favorite autumn beverages and impress your guests with your creative touch.
Leaf Print Towels/Napkins
Materials:
- Plain white tea towels or napkins
- Assorted autumn leaves
- Fabric paint or fabric markers in autumnal colors
- Paintbrushes (if using fabric paint)
- Paper towels or scrap fabric
- Iron
Instructions:
Start by collecting a variety of autumn leaves. Choose leaves with interesting shapes and textures that will create visually appealing prints on the tea towels.
Lay out the tea towels on a flat surface. Place a piece of paper towel or scrap fabric underneath the area where you'll be working to prevent any paint from seeping through to the other side of the towel.
Take an autumn leaf and apply fabric paint directly to the underside of the leaf. If using fabric markers, you can draw directly on the leaf.
Carefully press the painted side of the leaf onto the tea towel or napkin, applying gentle pressure to transfer the leaf's shape and details onto the fabric.
Lift the leaf off the tea towel or napkin to reveal the leaf print. If desired, you can reapply paint or marker to the leaf and create multiple prints on the same tea towel or move on to using another leaf for variety.
Repeat steps 3-5 with different leaves and colors of fabric paint or markers, creating a pattern or arrangement that suits your aesthetic preferences. You can overlap leaves or create a scattered design, depending on your desired outcome.
Allow the paint or marker to dry completely on the tea towels.
Once the paint is dry, place a clean paper towel or scrap fabric on top of the leaf prints. Set your iron to the appropriate heat setting for the fabric and gently iron over the paper towel or fabric, applying heat to the leaf prints. This helps to set the paint and make it washable.
Carefully remove the paper towel or fabric, and your leaf print tea towels or napkins are ready to use and display.
These DIY leaf print tea towels/napkins are a simple yet unique way to add an autumnal touch to your kitchen or dining area. They also make great personalized gifts for friends and family. Enjoy the process of creating beautiful and functional pieces that celebrate the beauty of fall.

Leaf Print Air Dry Clay Dish
Materials:
- Air dry clay
- Assorted autumn leaves (real or artificial)
- Rolling pin
- Craft knife or clay cutting tool
- Sandpaper (fine-grit)
- Acrylic paint (autumn colors)
- Paintbrushes
- Clear acrylic sealer (optional)
- Soft cloth or sponge
Instructions:
Start by preparing your work surface and gathering all the materials.
Take a piece of air dry clay and knead it in your hands to soften it and make it pliable.
Roll out the clay into a flat sheet using a rolling pin. Aim for a thickness of around 1/4 inch (or your desired thickness for the dish).
Select an autumn leaf with a beautiful shape and texture. Place the leaf veined side down onto the rolled-out clay.
Gently press the leaf onto the clay, ensuring good contact between the leaf and the clay surface. You can use your fingers or a smooth, flat object (like the back of a spoon) to ensure even pressure.
Carefully peel the leaf off the clay, revealing its imprint on the surface. If there are any delicate parts that didn't transfer well, you can use a craft knife or clay cutting tool to gently enhance the details.
Use the craft knife or clay cutting tool to trim the clay into your desired dish shape. It can be a circular, oval, or any other shape you prefer.
Let the clay dish dry according to the manufacturer's instructions. This may take a few days or longer, depending on the thickness of the clay and the humidity in your environment. Ensure it is completely dry before proceeding.
Once the clay dish is dry, use fine-grit sandpaper to smooth any rough edges or imperfections. Be gentle to avoid removing too much of the leaf imprint.
Paint the clay dish with acrylic paint in autumn colors. You can choose warm shades of red, orange, yellow, or brown. Apply multiple thin layers of paint, allowing each layer to dry before applying the next.
If desired, you can add additional details or accents with different paint colors. For example, you can paint the veins of the leaf imprint with a contrasting color to make them stand out.
Let the paint dry completely before proceeding.
Optional: To protect the painted surface, you can apply a clear acrylic sealer according to the product instructions. This will add a glossy finish and help preserve the colors.
Once the sealer is dry, your leaf imprint air dry clay dish is ready to use as a decorative tray, jewelry dish, or for holding small trinkets. Enjoy the unique autumnal design and the handmade charm of your creation.
Note: It's important to follow the instructions provided with the specific brand of air dry clay you're using, as drying and curing times may vary.
